In an era where luxury fashion has largely substituted real hide quality for heavy promotional logos, Degree was conceived as an antidote. We set out to build heirloom bags that don't need giant brand marks to validate their worth.
Our journey began in Tuscany, studying the slow, natural alchemy of vegetable tanning—where tree barks of chestnut, mimosa, and quebracho infuse raw hides over 60 days, giving our leather its unmistakable earthy scent, deep density, and the ability to develop a rich golden patina.
Most commercial bags rely on synthetic rubber edge paint to cover raw leather seams—which cracks and tears within 18 months. At Degree, we champion binded edge construction: double-folding and stitching the leather edges by hand.
This old-school saddlery technique requires triple the bench time, but results in a bag that resists abrasion, moisture, and decades of rigorous daily journeys.
We never use cardboard or foam inserts that collapse over time. Every structure is formed with real leather welts, natural canvas lining, and solid brass fittings.
No assembly lines. Each Degree bag is individually cut, skived, edge-burnished, and hand-stitched by a master saddler with decades of leatherworking experience.
Every Degree piece is accompanied by our lifetime stitch guarantee. If any seam, rivet, or brass fitting ever fails, our atelier will repair it with complimentary courier care.
